How to make Apfelkuchen or German Apple Pie
-
Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Grease a removable mold of about 25 cm in diameter with a little butter or oil and reserve. For the surface, melt the 25 g of butter in a saucepan over the heat and also reserve it for later.
-
Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into quarters. We make a cut to the apple quarters lengthwise.
-
For the dough, put the butter at room temperature in a bowl, and beat well. Little by little we are adding the sugar, the vanilla sugar, a pinch of salt and the juice of half a lemon and continue beating.
-
Add the eggs one by one and beat at maximum power. It is important to add the eggs one by one, beating in between.
-
Before adding the flour, mix it with the 2 level tablespoons of baking powder and then add it to the mixture. We continue beating and add the 2 tablespoons of milk.
-
Fill the mold with the dough and smooth it out with a spatula. Place the apples in the shape of a crown or ring on top of the dough.
-
With a brush, we paint it with the melted butter that we had previously reserved. We put it in the preheated oven at 180ºC for about 45 minutes.
-
While the tart is in the oven, and shortly before we are going to take it out, we heat the 2 tablespoons of apricot jam with a tablespoon of water in a saucepan and let it boil, stirring it from time to time. Pass the mixture through a strainer.
-
We take the cake out of the oven. Paint it with the apricot syrup and let it cool before carefully unmolding it. You already have a delicious apple pie ready to taste!
