Plane parts seized from Iranian Air Force base to help Iran fight ISIS

A convoy of Iranian military aircraft parts seized by Kurdish forces from the frontline in the country’s northern Raqqa province has been handed over to the Kurds, Iranian media reported on Sunday.

The Kurdish People’s Defense Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a joint statement on Saturday that the Iranian-made C-130 Hercules plane parts were seized from a base in Raqqa province and brought to the SDF-held Afrin region of northern Syria.

The PKK said the parts were used in the development of aircraft engines for the Iranian military, which is conducting airstrikes against the SIS forces and YPG fighters in Raqqa.
